They protect TO's from chopper attack and also are pretty mean infantry killers in their own right. Lastly, i try to accompany my TO-62's and 55's with cheap triple A, Afghanski's and similar non radar AAA platforms. In addition, cheap rocket firing Aircraft are always in reserve, they seriously interfere with the most hardened shock infantry. I agree with DarthHamer, TO-62 with 'Fire on position' command works for me, but i also have four mortar carriers within range of vital sectors, they can be very effective at chewing up infantry due to their high rate of fire. But if you give it a fire position order it works wonders. If you just tell a flamethrower tank to attack, it will usually screw up its pathing, get too close, and die. (USSR more so because they have the TO-62.) The trick is you have to use them like incredibly short range artillery, kind of like the CEV and AVRE for NATO. With any of those specs, you have to rely on other units to fight shock infantry, and it depends on the deck you are using.īut in general with PACT, and especially with Soviet, flamethrower tanks can be quite effective. If you can't get PACT shock infantry, then you're doing a mech, armor, or support spec yes? Originally posted by DarthHamer:The best way to kill shock troops used to be fire support squads, but they're not as effective after the nerf they took awhile back. Point is, how do you guys deal with this? It seems like Nato (Eurocorp especially) has a much larger selection (and quantity) of shock infantry, so countering fire with fire doesnt seem like it will work. Futhermore PACT air transport is expensive, compared to the much cheaper Nato pirahnnas and hueys. I've looked through the shock/elite inf in the soviet deck, and the only options for me (unless I want to specialize in Marines or Airborne) is usually to use more Spetznatz, but I get at most 8 or 12 squads to hold back a huge amount of their NATO counterparts. Helos are good, but useless in forests where they are also shredded quickly. I've tried supporting through aggresive napalm strikes, mortars, and whatever cheap vehicles PACT has. It's a problem because I can't depend on my infantry holding any given sector, even when in buildings.

Match after match, I find my regular infantry squads getting brushed aside by Marines, Legion, Commando Marines, etc., and Im getting tired of watching 40+ Mostrelki get massacred by 40 US Marines with the Marines taking at most two or three casualties. I see that most experienced players rely primarily on shock infatry, and little else as far as inf goes.

Wargame red dragon infantry how to#
Airplanes were a shock in ALB, but I was able to figure out how to counter them within two or three matches.
Wargame red dragon infantry series#
Hi, I've been playing this series for a while, and I'm primarily a Soviet PACT player.
